Woman shot at in Mohali

Unidentified motorcycle-borne assailants shot at a 61-year-old woman while she was sitting outside her house at Guru Nanak Colony of Daffarpur village on the Mubarikpur-Ramgarh road here today. The woman, identified as Saroj, wife of Naseeb Singh, has been admitted to the PGI.

Kiran, her daughter, said she was pursuing a divorce case with her husband who, along with her brother-in-law, was allegedly threatening her to make her withdraw the case. Today, her mother was sitting outside the house with other women when two assailants came there on a motorcycle and opened fire.

The police recovered an bullet shell from the spot.

She said she had been staying with her mother for a long time and was on her way to pick up her son from school when the attack took place.

Saroj was taken to the Civil Hospital, Sector 6, Panchkula, from where she was referred to the PGI.

The SP (Headquarters), Dr Jyoti Yadav, and Dera Bassi ASP Vaibhav Chaudhary visited the spot and started investigating into the matter. The police have got the CCTV footage of the incident.

Two rounds were fired around 1:30 pm. One bullet hit the woman in the stomach and the other grazed past the neck.
