Woman injured in road mishap in Chandigarh

Chandigarh: A woman riding an Activa scooter suffered injuries after a car driver suddenly opened a door of the vehicle and the scooter rammed into it in Sector 19. Hansdeep of Phase IX, Mohali, suddenly opened the door of his car. As a result, the Activa hit the car. The woman rider fell on the road. She was admitted to the PGI. A case has been registered against the car driver at the Sector 19 police station. He was arrested and later released on bail. TNS

Youth held with 5.63-gm smack

Chandigarh: The UT police have arrested a 25-year-old youth while possessing smack. The accused, identified as Ishu, a resident of Sector 37, was nabbed from the Dhanas road while possessing 5.63 grams of smack. The police have registered a case. TNS

Badminton meet from Sept 3

Mohali: The Mohali District Badminton Association is going to organise the Mohali District Sub-Junior, Junior and Senior Badminton Championship 2021-22 from September 3-5 at the Sports Complex, Sector 78, here. Players can compete in singles, doubles and mixed doubles categories. The entry fee will be Rs300 for singles and Rs500 for doubles and mixed doubles. Proof of residence of Mohali district is a must for the participants. No entry will be accepted after August 31. Entries complete in all respects can be handed over to Taran Arora (9888881619) from 6.30 am to 8 am and 4.30 pm to 6 pm or Daljinderpal Singh (9814641060), Akash Walis (9872800882) and Satnam Singh (9814930001).
