Vijay Hazare Trophy: Abhishek's ton guides Punjab to 9-wkt victory

Abhishek Sharma came up with a brilliant ton as Punjab recorded a nine-wicket win over Services in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy at JSCA International Stadium, Ranchi, today.

Chasing the target of 260 runs, Punjab scored 261/1 in 37.5 overs with the help of Sharma’s unbeaten 169 off 117 balls. Sharma’s innings was supported by Prabhsimran Singh who contributed 72 off 98 balls.

Earlier, Services skipper Rajat Paliwal opted to bat first. The side posted 260/5 in the allotted 50 overs. Paliwal remained the main scorer for the side as he scored 85 off 104 balls, while Mohit Ahlawat (71 off 93 balls) was the other notable scorer for the side. Harpreet Brar (2/41), Arshdeep Singh (1/41), Sanvir Singh (1/34) and Abhishek Sharma (1/25) were the most successful wicket takers for the bowling side. Raj Bahadur Pal claimed the lone wicket for Services.

Punjab will now face Goa in the next match on December 14 at MECON Stadium, Ranchi.
