Panchkula, December 3

To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Indian victory in the 1971 war with Pakistan, the Indian Ex-Servicemen Movement (IESM) paid homage to the martyrs at the War Memorial here today.

Brig Kiran Krishan (retd), convener, IESM, North Haryana, said the Armed Forces continued to bear the heavy burden of guarding national honour at a great cost and it was time for the nation to reflect on the sacrifices they continued to make every day. The policy makers ought to ensure that the soldiers were given adequate wherewithal to carry out their tasks. Mayor Kulbhushan Goyal sent his good wishes to the veterans fraternity. — TNS
