The UT Administration is planning to set up a new 50-bed hospital, either at Dhanas or Maloya, for residents of rehabilitation colonies.

Nine Facilities to be upgraded this year

  • Nine urban health and wellness centre/outreach centres will be upgraded as health and wellness centre this year. These are situated at Raipur Klan, Badheri, Khuda Jhassu, Kishangarh, Raipur Khurd, Khuda Lahora, Khuda Alisher, Indira Colony and Sector 44.

A similar proposal was announced by Member of Parliament Kirron Kher in 2017 when she announced that Maloya will get a 50-bed hospital. However, the proposal could not be materialised.

The District, Health Services (DHS), UT, has suggested that there was a need of at least a 50-bed hospital, either at Maloya or Dhanas where most families have been shifted under a rehabilitation programme.

The Chief Architect, UT, suggested that the hospital could be planned at four acres of land parcel in Dhanas, which was meant for public facilities. Besides, it has been suggested that the land in Maloya where a hospital was being considered earlier should be utilised for an upscale health and wellness centre.

To aid this project, Infosys has also agreed to spend about Rs5 crore for creation of a health facility in the rehabilitation colonies.

Suman Singh, the DHS, said, “We are planning to set up a hospital at either Dhanas or Maloya. The office of the Chief Architect will assess the site of the hospital. A meeting is this regard is scheduled for Monday.”
