Uprooted trees in Chandigarh get new life

Show comments

Chandigarh, August 19

In order to save uprooted trees, the horticulture wing of the local MC has replanted 57 trees in two years.

Trees that get uprooted due to storm or rain are identified and replanted. Yesterday, a tree was found uprooted and was replanted near MCM DAV College, Sector 36.

“We started the practice over two years ago. This year, we have replanted 11 trees so far. Whenever we get information about an uprooted tree, we send our team there and get the work done,” said Superintending Engineer Krishan Pal Singh.

With the help of a JCB machine, the land is dug up and the tree is replanted. A number of replanted trees have already bloomed. — TNS
