Two more test positive for coronavirus in Chandigarh, case count 15 now

Two more people on Tuesday tested positive for coronavirus in Chandigarh, taking the total cases to 15.

According to UT administration, a 31-year-old male resident of Chandigarh with no travel history who was admitted to CD-ward of PGIMER has tested positive for Covid-19. He was a contact of positive case of Nayagaon, Punjab, who was admitted in PGI for severe acute respiratory infection initially.

Another city resident, a 40-year-old male, was sampled at Mayo Hospital in Mohali. He has tested positive for Covid-19. He came in contact with a person who had returned from Canada.

Till date 103 samples have been tested.

The Administrator has ordered a massive search for contact tracing and complete quarantine of the contacts.

Meanwhile, Governor, Punjab and Administrator, UT Chandigarh, V.P. Singh Badnore inaugurated a newly-developed android base mobile app “CHDCOVID”. It will be a single point platform which will provide all information related to Covid-19 in Chandigarh.  Residents of Chandigarh can access all the guidelines, orders and notifications issued by Administration and Government of India.

Mayor Raj Bala Malik presented a cheque for Rs 50 lakh which was the contribution of one day salary of regular employees of Municipal Corporation to the Covid Relief Fund. 

The administrator said though the ‘Home Quarantine’ notices in front of houses will be removed after completion of 14 days, the residents will be advised to maintain distance within the houses and to stay indoors during the curfew period.
