Mohali, July 15

A car driver had a miraculous escape when a large tree fell on his vehicle, a Swift, following heavy rain while he was heading towards Gurdwara Singh Shaheedan, Sohana, from Kumbhra Chowk here this morning.

The incident took place around 6 am. The car driver, Nikhil Kumar, a resident of Phase 9, got injured while his car was badly damaged. Traffic on the road was disrupted for a long time due to the mishap.

The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital by one of his acquaintances where he was stated to be out of danger.

Former Akali Dal councillors Satveer Singh Dhanoa and RP Sharma said there were tall old trees in the city and the administration was not paying any heed towards these. These trees needed to be pruned at the earliest to avoid such kinds of incidents in the future. — TNS
