Panchkula, February 17

Farmers associated with the Bharatiya Kisan Union (Charuni) group carried out a tractor march today at Kalka and Pinjore to urge the government to implement decisions on their already conceded demands. The farmers have been protesting in line with the agitation organised by farmers in Haryana and other states.

The farmers had declared that they would hold a tractor march during their protest, which was organised at the Chandimandir toll on Friday. On Saturday, over 150 farmers gathered and started a tractor march from Sarniyan village. Farmers from Baddi, Pinjore and Kalka regions gathered to hold the demonstration on their tractors. The protestors reached Kalka and ended the tractor march at the Pinjore bus stand.

Husan Chaudhary, a farmer who was part of the tractor march, said that they have been holding protests for the fulfilment of their demands in a peaceful manner. “The Central Government needs to implement decisions on all the demands of the farmers that were accepted during the previous agitation over two years ago. All of these demands are legitimate, and decisions on them should be implemented as soon as possible. Our demands include the implementation of a minimum support price for all crops and action against the perpetrators of the Lakhimpur Kheri incident.”
