Chandigarh, September 25

In view of the surge in Covid cases in the city, PU hostel wardens are making phone calls to parents — as directed by the PU Dean Student Welfare (DSW) — and asking them to have their children vacate the hostels until the situation improves.

The PU has warned the parents that the university authorities will not be responsible in the event of any mishap. An official order issued by Prof SK Tomar, DSW, read: “The number of Covid-19 cases is increasing by the day on the PU campus, including hostels. The situation is alarming and difficult.”

“All hostel wardens are advised to inform the parents of the situation and ask them to call their children back home, except for international students. There is also a problem of their safety and arranging food for them. In case of any mishap, the university authorities will not be responsible,” orders further reads. — TNS
