Svarmanyu to play 2 finals at tennis rankings

Maharashtra’s Svarmanyu Singh will play in two finals on the concluding day of the Roots AITA CS (7) National Rankings Championship on Friday.

In the semifinals played today, Singh defeated Ahaan Dhekial of Uttar Pradesh 6-0 6-2 to storm into the boys’ U-18 final. In another match, top seed Punjab’s Harmanjit Singh defeated Gujarat’s Pratham Kotak 6-3 1-6 6-1.

In the boys’ U-16 semis, Singh overpowered Diyaan Chheda 6-3 7-5 and Ahaan Dhekial defeated Haryana’s Trishubh Kumar 6-1 6-0.

In the girls’ U-8 semis, top seed Shakti Mishra of Uttar Pradesh defeated Haryana’s Yana Gupta 6-2 6-2 and Maharashtra’s Shreeya Deshpande ousted Sia Dinganker of Andhra Pradesh 6-4 6-2. Punjab’s Rubani Sidhu reached the girls’ U-18 final by toppling top seed Ira Chadha 6-1 6-1. Second seed Shakti registered a comeback 4-6 6-2 6-1 win over Chandigarh’s Anandita Sharma.
