Chandigarh, September 20

The Indian Air Force (IAF), in association with the UT Administration, will organise an air show of Suryakirans and other aircraft at Sukhna Lake tomorrow at 4.30 pm. The one-hour event will mark Swarnim Vijay Diwas of the 1971 War.

It will be a treat for city residents’ eyes when speeding aircraft of Suryakiran aerobatic teams of the IAF will make various formations in the skies during a full dress rehearsal tomorrow.

UT Adviser Dharam Pal, along with senior officials of the IAF and UT Administration, today reviewed the preparations for the air show.

Keeping in view the Covid-19 protocol, Dharam Pal appealed to the residents to witness the show in a staggered manner. Some people should come tomorrow at 4.30 pm and others the next day so that all could get a chance to witness the historic moment, he said.

If a large number of people reached the venue to witness the show at a given time, they would have to close the entry to the venue so as to maintain social distancing, he added.

“We advise people coming tomorrow at 4.30 pm to witness the full dress rehearsal that they should avoid coming the next day so that all could get a chance to watch the show,” he said, while adding that the show could be best watched from house rooftops.
