Students protest fee hike, merger of 6 departments at Panjab University

Chandigarh, July 11

A joint protest was organised by students’ organisations of Panjab University (PU) against fee hike, ‘forcible’ merger of six departments and closure of the Nuclear Medicine Department.

Students’ representatives unanimously condemned the fee hike, merger of six different departments by labelling them as small and cognate and against closure of the Nuclear Medicine Department. Sandeep from the SFS, Balinder Kumar from the ASA, Harman from Sath, Joban from the PSU (L) and Anil, a research scholar from the Department of Nuclear Medicine, addressed the gathering.

Manjod Padda from the SOI and Ravinder Singh from the PUSU also participated in the protest. A memorandum regarding demands was submitted by students’ organisations to the PU authorities.
