Long queues of consumers were seen at the PSPCL billing counter in the Industrial Area, Phase 1, today. Consumers complained that the system was taking 20 minutes to process one bill. They rued that they were being harassed in hot and humid conditions under a ramshackle tin roof and a rickety fan.

Senior citizens complained that they had to sit on benches under the sun in this searing heat.Consumers also alleged that neither any senior official was available in the office, nor they were attending to the phone calls.

Phase 1 consumer Pawan Verma said, “We are standing here in this heat for the past two hours, but the system is not working. PSPCL officials need to be held accountable for this harassment.”

Sector 70 resident Gurcharan Kaur said, “With ACs running, there is no problem for them (employees), but consumers are sitting under the sun in this humidity.”

Senior Executive Engineer Taranjeet Singh’s room was latched since morning while SDO Ranjit Singh was unavailable, they claimed.
