Sippy murder case: After interrogation, Kalyani to be produced in court today

Kalyani Singh, an accused in the national-level shooter and advocate Sukhmanpreet Singh Sidhu, aka Sippy Sidhu, murder case, will be produced in the court tomorrow after her two-day custodial interrogation.

Counsel rebuffs claims of Sippy’s kin

In the court, Kalyani’s counsel Sartej Narula had rebuffed the claims made by Sippy’s family about them having turned down a marriage proposal. Narula read two emails sent by Sippy on August 18, 2015, nearly a month before the murder, and on August 29.

Narula read the August 18 email, which stated, “If I was fooling you, why would I come to your house with a ‘rishta’ along with mom?”

Kalyani seeks documents relied upon by CBI

A court has issued a notice to the CBI for June 21 on a plea by Kalyani Singh. In her plea filed through counsel NK Nanda, she prayed the court to issue directions to the CBI to supply copies of all documents and electronic records relied upon by the CBI in order to submit the untrace report.

Sippy was shot dead at a park in Sector 27 on September 20, 2015. A .12 bore shotgun was used in the crime and four bullets were fired from it.

Narula read the August 18 email, which stated, “If I was fooling you, why would I come to your house with a ‘rishta’ along with mom?”

The counsel claimed that through the email sent on August 29, Sippy had sought “forgiveness” and another “chance”. The counsel quoted the email, which stated, “All things started after November when you left. Kalyani forgive me. Give me a direction from your side. Trust me once. I am trying hard to rectify. Whatever wrong I did after November, it was because of you not being there”. During Kalyani’s remand on Saturday, Deepinder Kaur, mother of the deceased, was also allowed by the CBI to confront the accused. Kalyani’s counsel had claimed that Kalyani was threatened by Deepinder. However, she had denied the allegations. Deepinder had told the court that during her confrontation with Kalyani, she had only asked the accused to admit that Kalyani had visited Sippy at his office on September 18.
