Sector 22, hotel owner thrashed in Chandigarh, five arrested

The owner of Jullundur Hotel in Sector 22 here was thrashed by some persons who had come to attend a wedding function at the hotel. Five persons were arrested in this regard and later released on bail.

Complainant Anita Wadhwa reported that her husband Gopal K Wadhwa was thrashed on June 19 after he objected to consumption of liquor, which was brought from outside.

The complainant alleged that her husband returned home in Sector 22 which is close to the hotel and told her that some persons attending the wedding function are threatening him. In the meantime, a person called him back to the hotel claiming that they want to talk.

The complainant stated that around seven persons started thrashing her husband. She intervened, following which they stopped thrashing her husband. The incident was caught on a CCTV camera installed outside the victim’s house.

The police were informed about the incident, following which action was taken against the suspects under the preventive measures. Later, a case under Sections 323, 341, 506 and 147 of the IPC was registered.

Five persons - Anshul Bajaj, a resident of Sector 22, Amit Lal Dhingara, a resident of Sector 56, and Bhushan Sood, a resident of Sector 23, Gagandeep Singh and Rajvinder Singh - have been arrested in the case. They all were later released on bail. — TNS
