Sec 7 resident duped of Rs 6.6L

Chandigarh: The UT police have booked an unknown person for duping a Sector 7 resident of Rs6.60 lakh. According to the police, the complainant, Deva Bharti Reddy, reported that an unknown person called him up on December 28 last year, posing as an executive of a travel company and duped him of Rs6.60 lakh. A case has been registered at the Sector 26 police station. TNS

CGC to give Rs5-cr scholarships

Mohali: The Minister of Technical Educational and Industrial Training, Punjab, Charanjit Singh Channi, here on Saturday launched open scholarship for higher education at Chandigarh Group of Colleges (CGC), Jhanjeri, for economically weak and meritorious students. The CGC Jhanjeri president, Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal, said, “The college will put in best efforts for providing scholarship, additional facilities and quality education to students. The scholarship worth Rs5 crore is for more than 1,000 students for the year 2021.” TNS

Virtual alumni meet by PU DEPT

Chandigarh: The Department of Biophysics, PU, organised a virtual alumni meet. Over 90 alumni joined the event from different parts of the world. The talk by the founder chairperson of the department, Prof SR Bawa, was the highlight of the event. The department also felicitated Prof GS Gupta for his contribution to the development of the department. The alumni meet was held under the guidance of the chairperson, Dr Avneet Saini. TNS
