Satish, Debnath emerge saviours for Tripura

A fine 107-run unbeaten partnership between Ganesh Satish and BB Debnath helped Tripura to fight back against Chandigarh on Day 2 of the Ranji Trophy match at the Sector 16 Cricket Stadium. Chasing 356, Tripura posted 187/4 at the drawn of the stumps. Down to 80/4, Tripura’s innings was stable by Satish and Debnath remained unbeaten off 205 balls.

BB Ghosh and Bikram Kumar Das (15) started the innings for Tripura and raised a 31-run stand before Rohit Dhanda accounted the latter. Dhanda continue to trouble the visitors as he picked Ghosh (24 off 47 balls, with five boundaries) to reduce the side at 40/2. After the openers’ departure, Sridam Paul and Sudip Chatterjee held the crease. However, the duo couldn’t contribute much as Kaila accounted Paul (20) and Arpit Singh claimed Chatterjee (6) to further deepen Tripura’s troubles at 80/4. Thereafter, Satish and Debnath played an unbeaten innings to provide some relief to the side. Satish scored 67 off 133 balls, with eight boundaries, while Debnath contributed 50 off 98 balls, studded with eight boundaries.

Earlier, resuming from the overnight 282/6, the host team was bowled out at 356. Overnight unbeaten Mayank Sidhu went to score 41, before falling prey to Rana Datta, while Debnath accounted Gurinder Singh (31) and Arpit (14). Hartejassvi (10) was the last man out for Chandigarh innings at 356. Debnath accounted 3/31, while MB Bura Singh, Datta and Parvez Sultan claimed two wickets each. Sankar Paul also took one wicket.
