Sandeep wins powerlifting gold

Sandeep Kaur, from the Chandigarh Group of Colleges (CGC), Landran, has won gold in the 67kg weight category of the Federation Cup – North India Powerlifting Championship, organised by the Punjab Powerlifting Association in Kapurthala.

Sandeep lifted a total weight of 357.5 kg (squat 145 kg, bench-press 62.5 kg and dead lift 150 kg) to claim the gold medal. She was also conferred the “Strong Women” trophy at the competition as this was her 8th title of the career.

She is preparing for the Commonwealth Classic and Equipped Powerlifting and Bench Press Championship scheduled to be held in Auckland (New Zealand) from November 27 to December 4. Hailing from Moga in Punjab, Sandeep is employed with the college as gym instructor.
