Show comments

Mohali, July 7

Tension prevailed in Manauli village when a morning walker found torn pages of Gutka Sahib at two places around 7.56 am today.

He informed a ‘Granthi’ about this, who further communicated it to the Sarpanch of the village and the police were informed.

City SP Harvinder Singh Virk and DSP Deepkamal reached the spot and investigated the matter. On the complaint of village native Zora Singh, the police have registered a case under Sections 295-A and 120-B of the IPC at the Sohana police station. The police said around 70 torn pages were found in an untidy place while two pages were found on the roof of a house.

The police said the incident seems to have taken place on Sunday or Monday. “The Granthi of the nearby Saini Majra village gurdwara confirmed that all Gutka Sahib in the gurdwara are safe. The police are trying to find out from where the Gutka Sahib was brought or in whose house it was kept at the village. The CCTV footage of the area is being scanned,” said Virk. — TNS
