Rs 7.25L, jewellery stolen from house

Burglars stole Rs 7.25 lakh in cash, gold ornaments, LED TV sets and other valuables from a house in Sector 21 when the family had gone to attend a marriage.

Madan Lal Jindal, a resident of house no. 191 in Sector 21, told the police he, along with his family, had gone to attend his nephew’s marriage around 5 pm on February 26. When they came back to change clothes, they found the lock broken.

“The owner found the door of an almirah was forcibly opened and four pairs of gold bangles, one diamond set, two gold coins, two pairs of earrings, 15-kg silver, Rs 7.25 lakh in cash, a bracelet, two LED TV sets, 10 watches and eight jewellery sets had been stolen,” says the FIR.

A case was registered under Sections 457 and 380 (theft in dwelling house, etc.), IPC.

According to the 2019 crime report, 189 burglary cases were reported in Panchkula.
