Rs 1L reward for info on sex determination

UT Deputy Commissioner Mandip Singh Brar has announced a reward of Rs 1 lakh to anyone who provides information regarding a sex determination facility.

Addressing a press conference in this regard, Brar said the identity of the informer would be kept secret. He said anyone could give information to the Director, Health Services, or on the mobile of the nodal officer, Dr Gaurav Pawar -- 8872201555.

He said the Administration would celebrate National Girl Child Day on January 24 in a big way. The day is celebrated every to spread awareness about the need for ending inequality faced by girls in society.

Brar said functions would be organised for a week to mark the occasion. A pledge ceremony, essay writing, talk shows and nukkar nataks would be organised to make people aware of gender discrimination.

Dr G Diwan, Director, Health Service, was also present on the occasion. He said if information regarding sex determination was found correct, appropriate action would be taken against the accused under the PNDT Act.
