Kurukshetra, July 22

Two persons were killed while one suffered injuries after the car they were travelling in met with a road accident on the Ambala-Delhi National Highway in Shahabad today.

The deceased have been identified as Rinku Setia and his wife Shalu Setia, residents of Rajpura, and the injured as Ravi Kumar of Patiala. Rinku and his wife were on their way to pick their daughter, who was coming from Malaysia, from the Delhi airport. The victims were rushed to the CHC, Shahabad, where Rinku and Shalu were declared dead on arrival, while Ravi, who was driving the car, was referred to LNJP Hospital.

In his complaint to the police, Ravi stated that a vehicle hit their car from the rear. As a result, he lost control over the vehicle and the car overturned after hitting an iron grill.

Shahabad SHO Devender Kumar said: “The vehicle was being driven at a high speed. The car driver reportedly fell asleep following which he lost control over the car. There is also a possibility that the car was hit from the rear side by a vehicle. Further investigations are on in the case.”
