PU allows exams for UG, PG, professional courses

Panjab University has allowed examinations for UG, PG and professional courses of certain categories of candidates who have already filled out their examination forms for May, 2020, and whose examinations could not be conducted along with the exit classes exams held in September.

According to an official announcement of the university, the examinations will be held for candidates of odd semesters (professional courses appear category), deficient subjects of intermediate even semesters, and the candidates of environment education for golden chance and intermediate even semesters only.

It is further intimated that these exams will be held in the online mode and will tentatively start on January 15. The candidates need not apply afresh for these exams.

The exams will also be held for reappear candidates of intermediate semesters only who could not clear their exam as per instructions/models issued by the Panjab University authorities and their result have been declared as cancelled, said the PU authorities.

Meanwhile, PU syndics have written to the VC for conducting the semester examinations in the offline mode.

“The semester examinations of the undergraduate, postgraduate and other courses are scheduled to be held soon and we are already quite late. In this context, we would like to bring to your kind attention the fact that the past experience of conducting online examinations for the end semesters has been far from satisfactory,” said the syndics.

“Since you (VC) have failed to conduct any meeting of the Syndicate for the past five months, it is both inevitable and obligatory on our part to convey to you that we are of the considered opinion that in order to avoid the problems encountered during the conduct of semester examinations through the online mode, all semester examinations scheduled for the ongoing classes, be conducted strictly in the physical/offline mode,” the letter further reads.
