Mohali, December 21

The court today remanded a PSPCL junior engineer to two-day police custody for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs90,000 from a flour mill owner of Khelan village.

Vigilance officials said the junior engineer, Malkiat Singh, was allegedly demanding Rs3 lakh as bribe after he raided the flour mill owned by Kushalpal to check power theft on November 28.

A Rajapur resident, Pardeep Kumar, was involved in negotiating the bribe money. Officials said Rs1 lakh was handed over to the PSPCL employee on the same day. Pardeep was nabbed with Rs90,000 paid by the flour mill owner as the next instalment. Later, Malkiat Singh was arrested. — TNS
