PCR vehicle gets slip for zebra crossing violation

A UT PCR vehicle was issued a TVIS (traffic violation information slip) challan for zebra crossing violation at Sector 7/26 light point here today.

A city resident posted the picture of the violation on the Twitter handle of the UT police following which a challan was issued by the police for the offence. As per the amended Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, police personnel are liable to pay double the fine for traffic violations made by them. While Rs 500 is the fine for the offence, the cop driving the vehicle will have to pay a fine of Rs 1,000. — TNS
