Chandigarh, February 20

A committee of Panjab University on Thursday dwelled upon fee hike for regular and self-financed courses. Senator Prabhjit Singh, who is also the member of the committee, submitted a dissent note.

He said: “For the last two years, there has been a hike of 5 per cent in the academic fee for self-financed courses for new entrants.” He said a majority of students in the university hail from Punjab where government employees, pensioners aren’t getting DA from more than last two years.

“People’s earning capacity has gone down significantly. Country’s GDP has also declined. So, there should be no hike this year. Also, there has been not much infrastructural improvement in university,” he said.
