Panchkula woman duped of Rs 70K

A 22-year-old woman was allegedly duped of Rs70,703 in an OTP fraud on Friday. Pallavi Gupta, a resident of Sector 15, told the police that she got a call from a SBI customer service number. The caller sought the details of her card on which she wanted to discontinue her insurance.

“I provided the card details to the caller, who subsequently told me that I would get an OTP. As soon as I shared the OTP, a sum of Rs70,703 was deducted from my account,” the complainant said. A case under Sections 406 (criminal breach of trust) and 420 (cheating) of the Indian Penal Code has been registered at the Sector 14 police station.
