Panchkula to get its second fire station

Rs 5 crore project to come up at MDC, Speaker lays stone

Haryana Assembly speaker Gian Chand Gupta inaugurated two projects and laid the foundation stone of another two, at the PWD Rest House in Sector 1 here today.

Gupta inaugurated a new teaching block at Government Polytechnic College, Morni, built at a cost of Rs 7.98 crore, and a three-storey building at Government Model Senior Secondary School, Bataud village, constructed at a cost of Rs 3.07 crore.

He laid the foundation stone of a new bridge to be built on the Nandana choe in Sector 25 at a cost of Rs 4.75 crore and a fire station to be built at the Sector 5-B Mansa Devi Complex at a cost of Rs 5.52 crore. Gupta said the bridge would connect two parts of Sector 25. “The construction of the 52.25 m bridge is expected to be completed in the next 18 months,” he said.

At present, there is only one fire station in the city, which is situated at Sector 5, to deal with fire incidents.

Gupta also inaugurated a village pond at Nanakpur village in Pinjore. The pond has been built at a cost of Rs 30 lakh under the Amrit Sarovar Mission.
