Panchkula, April 14

The crime branch of the Sector 26 police raided an illicit liquor-manufacturing unit at Bhareli village in Barwala block following a tip-off yesterday. The police had unearthed a similar unit in the village in May last year.

The police said extra neutral alcohol, popularly known as ENA, was being used for making illicit liquor. The chemical was stored in drums at the unit.

During the raid, the police nabbed three persons. They used to steal the chemical from tankers. The suspects have been identified as Ashok Kumar, Baldev Singh and Kanwar Pal.

The suspects were today produced before a local court. While Ashok Kumar was remanded in four-day police custody, the others were sent to judicial custody.
