One more held for assault on scribe in Zirakpur

The local police today arrested the second suspect in the case of robbery and assault on a scribe of a vernacular daily on May 4. The suspect has been identified as Ravi Rajput, a resident of Kathgarh village that falls under the Dhakoli police station.

The Zirakpur SHO, Inspector Deepinder Brar, said on May 4, Alok, a scribe with a vernacular daily in Panchkula, was returning home from office and as he reached near Satnam Flour Mill in Zirakpur around 3.45 am, he was attacked by two youths riding an Activa. They snatched his mobile phone and purse and fled from the scene after brutally injuring him.

A case had been registered under Sections 379B, 341, 323 and 34 of the IPC against the two assailants. Later, on May 9, the police had arrested one of the suspects, identified as Gugan Garg, alias Gagan (26), a resident of Dhakoli.

The SHO said the second suspect was produced in a court, which remanded him in judicial custody.
