Nine fresh cases take Mohali count to 193

Nine positive cases of Covid-19 were detected in Mohali district today.

Among them, two patients, an 18-year-old boy and a 36-year-old woman, hail from Dappar village. Both had come in contact with a Covid-19 positive patient.

In Zirakpur, a 24-year-old youth has tested positive.

A 48-year-old woman and a 21-year-old youth, both residents of Baltana, were also found positive for Covid today. They are contacts of patients from Bapu Dham Colony in Chandigarh.

In Dera Bassi, a 36-year-old woman, who had recently given birth, has been found infected. A 30-year-old youth of ATS Society has also been found positive for the virus.

A 30-year-old woman and a 53-year-old woman, contacts of an already positive patient, were also found infected today. They have a recent travel history to Delhi.

A total of 193 positive cases have been reported from the district so far.

While there are 58 active cases, 132 patients have recovered and three have died.

Five patients recover, discharged

Five patients were discharged from a hospital after recovery on Wednesday. They are a 36-year-old man from Falcon View Society, a 42-year-old woman from Kurali, a 39-year-old man from Dulwa Khadri village, a 25-year-old youth from Neholka village and a 27-year-old woman from Dappar village.

Civil Surgeon visits affected plant

The Mohali Civil Surgeon, Dr Manjit Singh, along with senior health officials, on Wednesday visited a beer plant at Bhankharpur village near Dera Bassi, where four employees were found infected with the virus four days ago. The four employees were working in the administrative department of the plant.

Dr Manjit Singh said as a precautionary measure, they had sealed the department and the rest of the workers had been directed to to home-quarantine themselves. He said random sampling of all employees of the company would be started on Thursday. A total of 11 samples have been taken so far and the reports are awaited.
