Motorcyclist hit by car, dies

Chandigarh: A 31-year-old motorcyclist was killed after hit by a speeding car at the Sector 27/28 light point. According to the police, complainant Shekhar Chander Bhandari alleged that the motorcycle, being ridden by Vikas Bhardwaj, a resident of Patiala, was hit by a car being driven by Baijnath Rai of Mani Majra on Thursday. The victim got injured and was rushed to the PGI where doctors declared him brought dead. The police have registered a case under Sections 279 and 304-A of the IPC against the car driver at the Sector 26 police station. He was arrested and later released on bail. TNS

Mohali Under-16 trials on Feb 21

Mohali: The trials for the selection of under-16 cricket team of the Mohali Cricket Association would be held on Febuary 21 at 1 pm in the C-Ground, Mohali. The team would take part in the Inter-District Tournament 2022 being organised by the Punjab Cricket Association. The players born on September 1, 2006, or after are eligible to participate. The players born, residing and studying continuously for one year prior to the year of the tournament in the district of Mohali are eligible for the trials. They should carry a digital birth certificate, school bona fide certificate and passport as proof of residence. TNS

Savita to lead city team

Chandigarh: The UT Cricket Association (UTCA) has taken the lead by sponsoring the Chandigarh team for the coming Women's National T20 Cricket Tournament for the Blind 2022 commencing from March 1 at Bengaluru. UTCA president Sanjay Tandon presented team jerseys to team captain Savita in the presence of Vinod Chadha, secretary, Chandigarh and Punjab Branch of the National Association for the Blind. Chandigarh's first match is scheduled against Delhi on March 1. Team: Savita (Captain), Vrinda, Kashish, Divya, Kusum, Usha, Harleen, Manjeet, Taruna, Sulochana, Anita, Kaushalya, Manisha and Pooja.
