Mohali: IISER student ends his life

A student of the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) in Sector 81 here ended his life by jumping off the eighth floor of his hostel building last night. A security guard saw the body the next day at 6.15 am.

Sohana SHO Bhagwant Singh said the victim, Utkarsh Pratap Singh (22) of Sant Kabir Nagar in Uttar Pradesh, left behind a note stating that no one should be blamed for his death as despite studying hard, he could score only 80 per cent marks instead of 90 per cent. He said the victim had come to the hostel yesterday from his native place after about a year and a half. — TNS
