Mohali district sees second Covid death in 12 days

The district today witnessed the second death due to Covid in 12 days, taking the number of deaths to 1,151. A 51-year-old man of Samgoli village, near Dera Bassi, died at a private hospital here. He had co-morbid conditions. A person had succumbed to the virus in the district on June 13.

Meanwhile, 39 fresh cases were reported during the past 24 hours, taking the number of positive cases to 96,546. Thirty-two patients recovered from the disease. A total of 95,152 patients have been cured. There are 243 active cases.

A total of 20,63,334 beneficiaries in the district have been inoculated to date. As many as 11,50,624 people have been given the first dose, whereas 8,68,647 people have been jabbed with the second dose. Apart from this, 44,063 beneficiaries have been given the booster dose or third dose.

The Civil Surgeon, Dr Adarshpal Kaur, said a total of 79,924 beneficiaries, aged between 15 and 17 years, had been jabbed till Friday.

96 cases in UT

Chandigarh: The city witnessed 96 fresh cases of Covid on Friday, taking the active caseload to 458. While there was no fresh fatality, 55 more patients recovered from the deadly disease. The virus has claimed 1,165 lives in the city so far. TNS

55 infected in P’kula

Panchkula: Fiftyfive cases of Covid were reported during the past 24 hours, taking the number of cases to 44,863 in the district. No death due to the virus was reported. As many as 44,278 patients have been cured of the disease. There are 170 active cases in the district. TNS
