Mohali administration lists officials to give nod for second dose

In order to facilitate the vaccination of persons intending to undertake international travel for specific purpose, especially students, the second dose of Covid vaccine, Covishield, will be administered after 28 days but before 84 days.

Deputy Commissioner Girish Dayalan said this would help students who have to undertake foreign travel for education, persons who have to take up jobs in foreign countries, athletes, sportspersons and accompanying staff of the Indian contingent attending Olympic Games to be held in Tokyo. The eligibility of beneficiaries and the aforesaid permission is required to be given by the competent authority designated by the District administration.

Dayalan said to facilitate decentralised and easy access to eligible citizens for getting the aforesaid permission, SDMs, circle revenue officers, BDPOs, EOs of MCs, Labour Inspector, AETC/ETO/ Excise Inspector, SHOs, RMOs and elected representative of the local and urban bodies are authorised as competent authorities to verify and give permission to eligible persons for getting the second dose of Covishield after 28 days but before 84 days.

Dayalan said before according the permission for administering the second dose of Covishield, the competent authority would check whether a period of 28 days had elapsed after the first dose, genuineness of the purpose of travel based on documents related to admission offers or associated formal communications for the purpose of education, whether a person is already studying in a foreign educational institution and has to return to that institution for continuing his/her education, interview calls for a job or offer letters for taking up employment and nomination to participate in the Tokyo Olympic Games. This facility would be available to those who need to undertake international travel for these specified purposes in the period up to August 31, 2021.
