Mock drill held at Elante mall in Chandigarh

A mock drill was conducted by the UT police at the Elante mall, Industrial Area, Phase I, in view of the festive season.

Information about the presence of terrorists in the mall was received by the Police Control Room following which all agencies were alerted. Teams from the Industrial Area police station, the operation cell and the crime branch rushed to the spot and cordoned off the mall. Fire engines and ambulances also reached the spot.

Visitors and employees were evacuated after which a bomb disposal squad conducted a search. The parking lot was also vacated as a part of the drill. The drill led to traffic snarls on various roads leading to the mall as the police did not allow the vehicles to move towards the mall.
