Lure for lucre makes Panchkula woman poorer by Rs 1.56 lakh

The Panchkula have registered a case of cybercrime after a woman resident of Mansa Devi Complex was duped of Rs 1.56 lakh.

In her complaint to the police, Sunita stated that she was duped of Rs 1.56 lakh in the name of doubling the money. She said she had joined a group on Telegram app where she was directed to deposit Rs 1,000. Later, she was directed to join another group and pay Rs 3,000, which she did. In return, she received Rs 9,100. Lured by the easy money, she made numerous transactions ranging from Rs 7,000 to Rs 50,000. She said she was lured to send a total of Rs 1.56 lakh in the process only to realise later that she had been duped.

A case under Sections 406 and 420 of the IPC has been registered at the Cybercrime police station.
