Law students have bright future: Kiren Rijiju

“Speedy Justice for the common man is the objective in celebrating Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav,” said Kiren Rijiju, Minister of Law and Justice, in an online address during a programme organised jointly by the Faculty of Laws, University Institute of Legal Studies, Panjab University Regional Centre, Sri Muktsar Sahib, Ludhiana, and Hoshiarpur, to celebrate “Bharat ki Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav” and Constitutional Day.

The minister said India was a developing country and youngsters should come forward as mediators since necessary steps were being taken to make our nation a global centre of arbitration and mediation. He requested the participants to take a pledge to make a robust legal system in the country. He said the future of students pursuing law was bright as many opportunities were coming.

Prof Raj Kumar, Vice Chancellor, Panjab University, spoke about the journey of PU from Lahore and how it had remained committed to its objective of producing billions of minds for the service of nation. Dr Devinder Singh, Chairman, Department of Laws; and Dr Rajinder Kaur, Chairperson, University Institute of Legal Studies, spoke about their departments. Prof HS Bains, Director, PURC, Hoshiarpur, proposed a vote of thanks.
