Panchkula: The district reported a Covid death on Friday, the first since July 4. A 42-year-old woman from Kharag Mangoli, who had no comorbidities, is the latest Covid fatality from the district. The woman, who was suffering from cough and fever for the past over 10 days, was brought dead to the Civil Hospital in Sector 6. Dr Mukta Kumar, Civil Surgeon, said her family had stated that they did not see any doctor despite the Covid symptoms.

“The negligence led to a deterioration in her health. She tested positive for Covid posthumously,” she said.

The Health Department added the case to the infection tally – the only case reported today in the Covid bulletin.

The Covid toll has now reached 376. On July 4, the district had reported its 375th Covid death.

The overall case tally has reached 30,635. While 30,250 patients have recovered from the disease, nine cases are still active.

The recovery rate is 98.74 per cent. —TNS
