International Tiger Day: Awareness sessions held at Chhatbir Zoo

Chhatbir zoo celebrated International Tiger Day today to generate awareness on the dwindling population of the species.

The population of the national animal of India has been affected by several factors like illegal wildlife trade, human-wildlife conflict, habitat loss and fragmentation.

Kalpana K, Field Director, Chhatbir Zoo, initiated the awareness campaign with various events like special interactive session for rural schools, painting competition, awareness film show and zoo keeper’s talk.

The prime motive of the sessions was to spread the message on how to conserve and protect tiger. Around 40 school students from nearby villages participated in the special sessions and painting competition.
