International airport gets service quality award

Chandigarh International Airport Limited (CHIAL) has earned the Airport Service Quality (ASQ) Award 2019, conferred by the Airport Council International (ACI) in 2 to 5 million passengers category.

Chandigarh Airport has won awards in Asia-Pacific category for best airport by size and region, best environment and ambience by size, best customer service by size and best infrastructure and facilitation by size.

Ajay Kumar Bhardwaj, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), CHIAL, said, “Some facilities extended by the airport, which help it stand out from the rest, include quantum increase in business as well as passenger satisfaction achieved with setting up of Crambar, a business lounge, in both domestic and international security hold areas.”

“Besides, CHIAL operates three reserved lounges, two in domestic and international security hold areas and one in arrivals,” the CEO added.

“A dedicated sitting area with a pleasant ambiance in arrivals hall to enhance passenger experience in leisure while waiting for their baggage has been set up in arrivals,” the CEO said.

“An exclusive seating arrangement has been made for senior citizens, besides increasing the number of trolleys at the entry and exit points of the airport significantly,” the CEO added.

“ATMs of major banks have been introduced in departure and arrival area of airport terminal building to ensure easy access to money at all times. Besides, this special arrangement to facilitate passengers with special needs/differently-abled has also been made at the airport,” the CEO said.

“In addition to sustainable technological interventions, CHIAL has carried out the waste recycling programme by installing compost machine to produce manure for in-house use besides maintaining high degree of operational efficiency in terms of times taken in check-in, security checks, immigration and customs clearances and baggage claim,” the CEO added.
