IAF thrash CISF 7-1 in hockey

Chandigarh, April 18

Indian Air Force defeated CISF 7-1 in the opening match of the 3rd Marshal of the Air Force Arjan Singh Memorial Hockey Tournament played at the AstroTurf hockey ground of 3 BRD here today.

Sargent Rahul Kumar Rajbhar scored two goals and was declared man of the match.

Army XI defeated Punjab National Bank (PNB) 3-0 in the second match while Indian Oil Corporation overpowered South Central Railway 6-2. In the fourth match, Chandigarh XI was awarded walkover against ICF.

Earlier, Air Marshal K Anantharaman (VSM), Air Officer-in-Charge Administration and president of the Air Force Sports Control Board, declared the tournament open.

The board is organising this tournament, which is a befitting tribute to the legend 3rd Marshal of the Air Force Arjan Singh. Veteran hockey players were also felicitated by the chief guest. —
