Horror on bus: Driver gets police remand for violating four-year-old

A 25-year-old driver arrested for allegedly raping a four-year-old girl in a school bus at Pinjore has been remanded in one-day police custody by a local court. He was arrested last evening.

Neha Chauhan, in-charge of the women police station, said they had impounded the bus from his house at Mandhala village in Solan district.

“We are trying to ascertain whether any person aided or abetted the driver in committing the offence. We will issue a notice to the bus contractor and the school management asking them to join the investigation,” an official privy to the probe said.

She said there were two more people inside the bus at the time of the offence. "The driver took the girl to his seat, held her on his lap and committed the henious crime," she said.

The driver, Niranjan, underwent a medical examination at the Civil Hospital. His nail samples have been sent to the FSL, Madhuban. The victim was dropped at home in Marranwala 10 minutes late. She reached home at 2.30 pm against her usual time of 2.20 pm. She complained of pain in her private parts and complication in urinating. She then confided in her aunt that the driver had "performed some bad acts with her" in the bus on the way home. The girl was then taken to the Civil Hospital.
