Chandigarh, December 15
The Punjab and Haryana High Court today granted bail to liquor contractor Arvind Singla in the alleged fraud case involving a Sector 37 property. Allowing his plea, Justice Avneesh Jhingan asserted the co-accused had been granted bail by the court.
“Considering the custody period and the fact that conclusion of the trial is likely to take time, the petitioner is granted bail, subject to his furnishing bail bonds to the satisfaction of the Chief Judicial Magistrate/ Duty Magistrate concerned and surrendering his passport,” Justice Jhingan added.
Singla had moved the High Court through senior advocate RS Rai with Anurag Arora for regular bail.
Among other things, Rai contended the petitioner was in custody since June 11, the investigation in the matter was complete, and no further recovery was to be made. Rai added the petitioner had himself surrendered before the court. He also relied upon the fact that “the ultimate purchaser of the property
Saurabh Gupta and his brother Manish Gupta were granted bail and one co-accused Satpal Dagar were granted bail by this Court”. — TNS
