Chandigarh, January 28

Six teams of the GST Department recently conducted raids on multiple immigration firms in the city on the suspicion of tax evasion.

Under the leadership of Pardeep Rawal, ETO, the teams, directed by Jagdeep Sehgal, AETC, examined GST returns, business models, past filings and portal-based data, and conducted on-site visits to gather crucial information.

According to the UT Administration, the inspections yielded substantial evidence, including enrollment forms, rent agreements, pen drives, mobile phones, computers, loose documents, dairy notebooks and registers. Notable firms covered in this operation were Canvisa Worldwide, CV Immigration and Akal Overseas Consultancy and Future Developers, Sector 34.

This effort follows the previous week’s inspection of Dhagey Creations, Sector 38, where it was discovered that the taxpayer was operating under the composition scheme instead of regular GST registration. These measures by the department are aimed at sealing GST revenue loopholes and ensuring businesses comply with tax regulations, the authorities said.
