Chandigarh, July 4

After having been recognised as the second-best Union Territory in “telemedicine consultation” in the country, the Government Multi-Speciality Hospital, Sector 16, is planning to set up an exclusive telemedicine hub where only dedicated medical specialists will attend to patients through mobile app or tele-calling.

Will Cater to patients on mobile app

We are planning to hire specialists who will specifically cater to patients using mobile app. A tele-consultation hub will come up at the GMSH-16 Dr Suman Singh, Director Health Services, UT

To begin with, the GMSH-16 will hire eight to nine specialists who will exclusively provide tele-consultation to patients. The panel of specialists may also include retired doctors whose expertise can be used for the hospital services.

The hospital is running tele-consultation through ‘eSanjeevaniOPD’ app wherein patients fill in details and receive token numbers through which doctors give consultation through video-calling.

Besides, the tele-consultation facility at the GMSH-16 is attached to the health and wellness centres (HWCs) of the city, wherein doctors attending to patients can seek consultation from specialists at the GMSH-16.

“The problem faced by doctors is they have to simultaneously attend to patients physically in the out-patient department (OPD) and those waiting through the tele-consultation mode. We are now planning to hire specialists who will specifically deal with patients using the mobile app. A tele-consultation hub will come up at the GMSH-16 to cater to such patients,” said Dr Suman Singh, Director Health Services, UT.

“The eSanjeevani OPD at GMSH-16 and all HWCs in Chandigarh are aimed at helping the general public, especially the elderly and patients with co-morbidities. Through this platform, patients have the ease of getting an appointment from doctors and getting specialist opinion as well,” said Dr Paramjit Singh, Deputy Medical Superintendent, GMSH-16.

The PGIMER already has a tele-consulation hub wherein dedicated superspecialists are providing consultation to Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh.
