Mohali, January 19

A day-long grievance redressal camp was held to resolve the issues being faced by people in availing themselves of different services offered by the GMADA Estate Office and other branches at PUDA Bhawan in Sector 62 here today.

A total of 326 applications, including those related to issuance of NOC, change of ownership, approval of building plan and issuance of LoIs, were disposed of during the camp.

The Land Acquisition branch issued 40 cheques to the owners of land acquired for different projects to be developed by the authority.

Mohali MLA Kulwant Singh handed over letters to beneficiaries. He also handed over a cheque for Rs 7.65 crore issued by GMADA to the Municipal Corporation, Mohali, for executing different development works in the city.

Around 48 landowners of Naraingarh, Chhat, Kishanpura, Chungian and Bakarpur villages, who had come to the camp, complained that GMADA had acquired their land in Ward No. 508 for Aerocity in 2008, promising residential and commercial land in lieu of it.

“Even as 16 years have passed since then, GMADA has not provided us commercial plots,” they complained, while adding that 1,000 sq yds of residential land and 120 sq yds of commercial plots were promised against an acre acquired.

Mohali MLA Kulwant Singh asked GMADA officials to resolve the matter.

Several other property owners argued with officials regarding their long-pending dues. DSP (City-2) Harsimran Bal and police officials were present on the occasion.
