Gian Jyoti Global, Mohali

Students and staff members of Gian Jyoti Global School, Mohali, celebrated Lohri on the school campus. A huge bonfire was lit and a function was organised. Chairman J S Bedi and Principal Director Ranjeet Bedi lighted the bonfire. Groundnuts and ‘revri’ were distributed among everyone. Students presented cultural items and folk and traditional dances. Apart from singing folk songs, students danced to the beat of ‘dhol’. Poems and songs were recited in praise of ‘Dulha Bhatti’, who used to help the poor and fought for their rights.

AKSIPS-125, Kharar

The festival of Lohri was celebrated at AKSIPS-125 Smart School with zeal and enthusiasm. A special assembly was conducted wherein students showcased their oratory skills by reciting a poem and delivering a speech based on Lohri. Students also sang a melodious song immersed in rich cultural folklore of Punjab. They enacted a skit with a social message on gender equality, followed by giddha and bhangra. Principal Sekhon lit the sacred bonfire and joined the celebrations with the hope that the coming year will bring happiness to the lives of students and teachers.

Aanchal International, Chandigarh

Lohri was celebrated at Aanchal International School with fanfare. Students and teachers came dressed up in traditional attire. Principal Manju Sood extended her good wishes. Students performed giddha and bhangra and gave speeches.

New India, Panchkula

Lohri was celebrated at New India School, Sector 15, Panchkula, with fervour and enthusiasm. A special assembly was organised. A ‘Hasya Kavi Sammelan’ and traditional Lohri songs were sung by the students. Students enjoyed a bonfire lit by director Sharda Gupta. She congratulated the students and teachers on the occasion. Students were given ‘revri’, peanuts, popcorns and ‘gachak’. Students enjoyed the warmth of bonfire and danced to the beats of folk songs.

Staff and students of the school participated enthusiastically in district-level celebrations of National Youth Day.

Blue Bird High, Panchkula

Lohri was celebrated at Blue Bird High School withzeal and zest. Bonfire was lit and students and staff enjoyed singing Lohri songs and had a gala time. Groundnut, popcorn and ‘revri’ were distributed among them. Principal Vandna wished everyone.

Indus Public, Mohali

Indus Public School observed Swami Vivekananda’s birth anniversary. A seminar was conducted where changing needs in technology and management were discussed. The programme was filled with outstanding performances depicting incidents from Vivekananda’s life. TNS
