GGDSD women fencers win PU inter-college championship

Chandigarh, December 11

The GGDSD College, Sector 32, won the Panjab University Inter-College Fencing (women) Championship by scoring 30 points. The Panjab University Campus claimed the second position with 26 points and the Post Graduate College for Girls, Sector 11, claimed the third position with 17 points.

In the foil team event, GGDSD eves claimed the top podium position, followed by the Sector 11 College and the Panjab University teams. In the epee event, the GGDSD College, the Panjab University Campus and the MCM DAV College, Sector 36, claimed the top three positions in the order.

The Panjab University Campus claimed the sabre title, followed by the Sector 11 outfit and the GGDSD College.

In individual category, Kajal claimed gold medal in the foil event and Chhavi the second position. Kusam and Simran claimed the joint third position. In the epee event, Yashkirat and Chaavi claimed gold and silver medals, respectively, while Mumtaz and Ashyana claimed the joint third position. In the sabre event, Sanya claimed gold medal, Shubhjot silver and Babita and Riya a joint bronze. — TNS
